"Heya Girls!"
There's nothing better than chocolate – except perhaps more chocolate. In crazy times like these, the supply can never be big enough. But that won’t be a problem for us Viennese ladies, because there's a chocolate festival at the Marx Halle this weekend. And it's all about the wonderful cocoa bean and the sweet temptations that can be conjured up from it! Chocolate skewers, chocolate liqueur, chocolate beer and chocolate pizza can be tasted on 8,000 square metres. There are even chocolate kebabs and chocolate burgers on offer. In workshops, you can make the famous Niemetz Schwedenbomben yourself or try out how to make Dubai chocolate in a Thermomix. And as a special highlight, top chefs will reveal their sweet kitchen secrets. For example, patissière Nina Metayer from France, who has just been voted the best pastry chef in the world in 2024. And yes, I know, chocolate doesn't solve any problems. But neither does an apple ;-)
Wishing you a vigilant week

SuperBravo
The band name alone suggests that this is going to be good ;-) Behind SuperBravo are singer Armelle Pioline and guitarist and producer Michel Peteau. Together they invent words, sounds, styles and formulas on a bed of weird guitars, badly licked organs and fluid songs. The result: a repertoire that hovers between pop and neo-folk, takes on psychedelic and surrealistic colourings here and there and has been set to music on their new album “ La Digue”. The Parisian duo's musical potpourri will be performed as ear candy for you live tonight!

Nana Mandl
At first glance colourful, playful and jumbled, Nana Mandl's painterly fabric collages are actually a pause in the madness of mass and social media. The Graz-born artist uses her sensual fabric materials to trace inconspicuous details that unconsciously appeal to us and translates them into digital prints and drawings on textiles and canvases, creating overpaintings, collages and embroideries. Sometimes it is only pixelated scraps of information from which she develops her pictorial motifs. Today is the vernissage!

If you want to give your it-bag that certain x-factor, you've come to the right place! Because today, the Flowergirls will be swapping dried flowers for tassels, beads, pendants, buckles, clips and ribbons and introducing DIY fashionistas to the art of charm making. Before we start making said charms, there will be a short warm-up session with secco, a chat and an introduction to the work steps. Plus: As a goodie, participants receive 20% off the entire atelier collection, because after the workshop there's still plenty of time to shop, after all ;-)

Passion for Porcelain in Baroque Vienna
Dinner or art exhibition? A question that could well be asked in the middle of the 18th century. In Baroque Vienna, “service à la francaise” ruled at the table, or rather: lavishly set tables with opulent porcelain arrangements enthroned in the centre. The imaginative creations came primarily from the French porcelain manufacturer Du Paquier and can currently be admired at Palais Liechtenstein – from the 112-piece dinner service of the Princes of Thurn und Taxis to trompe-l'œil hunting tureens and colourful figurines. Glamourous!
Palais Liechtenstein, Fürstengasse 1, 1090 Vienna. Until 30 March. Daily 10:00 to 18:00. Free entry. Web

Exchange Room
Floor lamp for deckchair! The place where things are usually stored can now also be swapped! The MyPlace SelfStorage in Favoriten is being transformed into an exchange room until 28 February. The motto is swapping instead of throwing away, and the rules are quickly explained: for every item you bring, you can take another item for free, and what you bring must be in good condition and in working order. Food, medication or underwear may not be swapped – in short, the swapped goods should not contradict common sense ;-)

Markta
Farmers’ market vibes with supermarket variety – now also available in the seventh district! Vienna's second markta branch has opened in Zollergasse. Around 1,500 products from 250 regional suppliers can be discovered on two levels. While fresh pastries and organic coffee invite you to take a break in the entrance area, the remaining 400 square metres offer everything from apples to toilet paper from regional sources – even the furnishings, as the wood is from local copper beeches and the counters are made of Salzburg coral limestone. Great thing!

The sound of the south and lemons in bliss – you don't have to travel to Calabria for this, but only to Casa Caria in the seventh district. Because the specialists for unusual citrus varieties have just received their annual delivery of sour fruit from Palmera and that means that up to 40 citrus varieties (!!) can now be shopped here. If you now feel like delving deep into the world of flavour and knowledge of citrus rarities, you have the opportunity to do so at today's tasting workshop. Afterwards, there will be a delicious 3-course menu inspired by the citrus flavours. Delicious!

Panagbenga Flower Festival
You can already smell it a bit here: Spring is on its way! The Filipinos are already further along in their new season optimism and ring in the Panagbenga Flower Festival today – even here in Vienna. The sprouting of the flowers is celebrated with the traditional Begnas, a song and dance of thanks. You can also look forward to takik and pattong, traditional dances of the Igorot tribe, and traditional dresses. And because the Chinese Spring Festival is also being celebrated today, the dragon and lion dances with impressive masks will round off the programme!

Gauri B
30 seconds on her Insta channel are enough to make you fall in love with her and her comedy. And today you can even experience Gauri live, because the Berliner-by-choice with Indian roots is coming to the WUK! The stand-up queen puts her finger in the wounds of our time and stirs around in them, breaking taboos and crossing boundaries without causing offence – perhaps the greatest art of comedy. Gauri's own life experiences, her cultural background, as well as politics and society, provide her with the material from which she carves her pointed stand-up with razor-sharp jokes. Recommended!

From today, the meeting point for this is every Monday evening at Gleis//Garten. Because the Foodmarket will be transformed into a pop-up indoor cinema with free admission. Healing Yoga
Oof, it's Monday again... But the start after the weekend doesn't have to be the most dreadful day of the week – if you end it well. That's exactly what the “Monday Evening Flow” sessions by body-mind coach Barbara Walkowiak are all about. Creatopia closes
What a pity! How much we enjoyed stocking up in Uschi Jungwirth's creative paradise – there's simply everything you need here: from knitting sets to watercolours, modelling clay and iron-on beads to sequins or casting resin, there's something for every crafting session. Unfortunately, Creatopia will now be closing its doors, so it's time to fill up your crafting baskets again, since all sorts of products will be reduced by up to 50 percent! Just thinking about the fact that Easter and Mother's Day are just around the corner makes your creative fingers tingle ;-)

True Colours
The most beautiful thing about photography is being able to capture the fascinating colours that our eyes see forever. But how does colour actually get into the photograph? The exhibition “True Colours – Colour in Photopgraphy from 1849 to 1955” answers this question using a wide variety of works from the Albertina Photo Collection. On display are fascinating examples that trace the development of colour photography, from the experimental techniques of the 19th century to Kodak's breakthrough into mass-produced colour photography in 1936.

Caesar's Office
Sounds like current events have served as inspiration here: very loosely based on Shakespeare and not set in ancient Rome, but deep in the 70s, this crime comedy in which Julius Caesar, a real macho man, wants to bury democracy. Only his mates Brutus, Casca and Cassius are against it. The only way out: tyrannicide! Everyone is eagerly awaiting the “Caesar gratis” report. Unfortunately, other media will not be on site as they have all been asked to report on the defective lion cages at Circus Maximus. Wonderfully funny and yet frighteningly realistic!

Noah Derksen
He radiates boy-next-door vibes, but he's actually quite the sly old dog – or rather singer ;-) Noah Derksen was named “Canadian Folk Music's Emerging Artist of the Year” in 2021 and we can understand why: The singer/songwriter, who comes from the Canadian prairies, weaves veritable sound poetry with his soulful voice, some of which he will present live today from his brand-new album “ Stolen Serenades” along with some favourite classics. Noah also has long chestnut brown hair and a twinkle in his eye. So really, what's not to love about him ;-)

musette shop
This shop is not exactly new, but the address is! musette has moved from Westbahnstraße to Neubaugasse and has even more space for its range of books, stationery, fashion, ceramics and more now, which changes every three months. Founder Isabelle Blanc is inspired by a major overarching theme, which she uses to put together her eye-catchers. Each theme is traditionally accompanied by an “ Apéro musette”, where experts are invited to share their knowledge. In short: whether it's for shopping, workshops or a chat – in the museum shop-like boutique with baroque-style seating niches, you're sure to be kissed by the muse ;-)

Grey Coffee
This week's restaurant candidate has also been around for a while. In addition to his cosy café in Hernals, Dominic Geistberger has now opened a second branch of his Grey Kaffee on Pilgramgasse. If you already have a sweet tooth – yes, you can also get the much sought-after pistachio cream cornetto here. The menu has been expanded a little – as has the minimalist dining room with bright blue details – and so, in addition to the fluffy croissants and coffee specialities, there is also an aperitivo time every day from 16:00 where you can look forward to bubbly drinks such as Prosecco and Aperol as well as savoury treats.
