"Heya Girls!"
From Friday until the end of July, the Brunnenviertel will be hosting a particularly fun and cute event. Because on 13 June, the Day of the Duck is celebrated– and to mark the occasion, lots of little ceramic ducks have been hidden around Brunnenmarkt and Yppenplatz. The little animals were made in a limited and numbered edition by Renate Gerlach. You can find out exactly how the scavenger hunt works at the kick-off event at 18:00 on Yppenplatz. Beforehand, there will also be a culinary walk where you can sample cheese from all over the world, eat crêpes from Syria and sniff fragrant soaps from Aleppo. The walk is free of charge – if you want, you can donate something to the VinziBett at the end. And if you find a little duck during the treasure hunt afterwards, you can keep it. Or give it away. Or hide it in your girlfriend's handbag ;-)

Wishing you a calm week,
Your CitySpotterGirl

Happy Birthday Egon Schiele
Summer birthdays are the best birthdays ;-) That’s what Schiele thinks, too, and on his 135th birthday he will be giving everyone else a present as well! And so today you can take a free guided tour of the Leopold Museum's permanent exhibition “Vienna 1900 – Birth of Modernism” and get to know the works of the Austrian expressionist better. By the way, it also shows our beautiful Danube metropolis as it used to be: the capital of the aristocracy, the magnificent Ringstrasse and endless slums, rigid conservatism and the dawn of modernity. Worth seeing!

Miet Warlop: Inhale Delirium Exhale
Six performers and 4,000 metres (!) of fabric in which human fears, aspirations and secrets are given space. This is the basis for the latest work by star choreographer and artist Miet Warlop. “Inhale Delirium Exhale” refers to the state of mind of inner turmoil, when thoughts are piling up in your head and emotions are overwhelming you. The fabrics flow, shift, bulge and overlap. With some allusions to Greek mythology and not without a touch of humour, this tour de force will be taking the audience on a journey into an impressive universe. Fascinating!

Sturgeon Breeding Station Tour
Sturgeons are the world's most endangered animal family, which is why the remaining inhabitants of the Danube basin must be saved at all costs. To this end, the former stone transport ship MS Negrelli has been converted into a floating breeding centre and now houses several tanks with mother fish and juvenile fish. By 2030, around 1.6 million juvenile fish are to be reared here and then released into the wild in various sections of the Danube. Anyone interested in finding out how the whole thing works can take part in guided tours on the 66 metre-long ship from today!

Radical! Women Artists and Modernism
Painting meets textile design, sculpture meets printmaking, drawing meets photography – at the Lower Belvedere, 60 female artists from over 20 countries enter into a dialogue that shines a light on the era of Modernism from 1910 to 1950. The exhibition encourages visitors to think differently about Modernism: multivoiced, international, contradictory. Regardless of origin and visual language, the women are united by their search for new forms of expression and their desire to push the boundaries of art and society. Tamara de Lempicka can be seen here as well as Sonia Delaunay.

The Pelicot Trial
The Pelicot trial is one of the most discussed and also most symbolic trials of our time. It shows that in a Western European city, men of all social classes and ages are capable of perhaps the most extreme offence: the repeated rape of an unconscious woman. By deciding to make her trial public, Gisèle Pelicot has become a symbolic figure. Today's reading (duration ca. 6 to 8 hours) of statements from the trial, interviews and newspaper commentaries, pleadings and online chats is intended to pay tribute to Gisèle Pelicot. Very moving.

If you recognise the unusual mosaic floor from the photo: Yes, this used to be the Alma Gastrotheque. It closed for personal reasons, but the new restaurant, Frigo, is at least as nice. Two friends from the upmarket restaurant scene who've known each other for a long time have fulfilled their dream here. The menu is small but unusual – and the dishes are unusually good. The late afternoon starts with snacks and tapas (funny: the stuffed croquettes and zucchini fritters), while in the evening more elaborate meals like chicken thigh or Arctic char with fennel and orange are served. And: many dishes are veggie, like the miso melanzani. Super!
