"Heya Girls!"
Reason to rejoice! After a break of several years, a design and gourmet market is back in the beautiful park of Schloss Hetzendorf! The lovely Salon jardin came to an end with Covid, but now a new team is transforming the garden into a spring paradise. The park at Schloss Hetzendorf is usually closed to the public. For the “FrühlingsQuartier”, however, it will be open for three days. Around 60 exhibitors, mostly small independent labels, will be showcasing beautiful things – the latest outdoor and interior design, fine ceramics, environmentally friendly natural cosmetics, fashion and accessories. And because a perfect spring day in the countryside also includes good food, you can get comfortable on the picnic meadow with street food or vegan specialities. Or play boules. Or chill in a deckchair. Or get creative in the open air with action painting, acrylic painting and trendy tufting. Sounds like an outrageously perfect weekend. And yes, the weather will be good ;-)

Wishing you a sunny week,
Your CitySpotterGirl

Gemischter Satz 2025
You can now go have a drink with art at the Wiener Konzerthaus. Because for three days, first-class musicians and actors will gather in the halls, corridors and foyers of the Konzerthaus for a “Gemischter Satz” of the arts. Today, artists from different genres will kick off the programme and guide you through their very special artistic vineyard. They include the Musicbanda Franui, actress Dörte Lyssewski, Christoph & Lollo, the Simply Quartet and many more. And the eponymous fancy beverage will of course also be available during the breaks ;-)

City Farm Garden Festival
Blooming prospects for the holiday! The City Farm, Vienna's coolest garden project, welcomes spring with a big festival and invites you to event-tours through its veggie beds and a colourful programme in the Augarten. City gardeners and herb witches can learn all sorts of things and equip themselves. On top of tasty organic food, a reading lounge also provides cosy vibes. The festival is also the prelude to the big Young Plant Market: Over 300 types of veggies, from cucumbers to Malabar spinach, await a new home in the gardens and on the balconies of this city.

 Rudolf von Alt, Stefan Oláh
Vienna, Vienna, only you.
What did Stephansplatz look like 100 years ago? And did it also bloom so luxuriantly around Schönbrunn Palace? City explorers will find the answers in the new exhibition of the Heidi Horten Collection. Works by three artists are juxtaposed with Vienna's cityscape: Balthasar Wiegand's sewing box from 1820, Rudolf von Alt's paintings from the 19th century and Stephan Oláh's current photographs perfectly compare the then with the now and show places that have hardly changed over 200 years, as well as others that have literally been built over.

We like: relaxed, local shopping! Eleven designers have come together for a fine pop-up to bring the highlights from their current collections to you for six days at the start of spring. These include the minimalist designs by Amateur, the creative jewellery pieces by kabllo and the playful looks by Fridita, among others. And because feinstoff celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, you can not only do some shopping, but also mix limoncello cocktails, attend a flower fascinator workshop or take part in a style coaching session, for instance!

Burg on Tour
Well, the Burgtheater crew must have felt like a change of scenery. Today, the theatre leaves the Ring and cruises to Schloss Neugebäude on a mobile stage. There, Hans Dieter Knebel first interprets the gallows songs and animal poems of Christian Morgenstern wittily titled “The Night Joker and the Siebenschwein”. Stefko Hanushevsky and Christopher Brandt then take over the show and offer the best of 400 years of music history – the Beach Boys meet John Dowland and Schubert has a rendezvous with Britney Spears. Sounds like fun!

Carmen
The opera “Carmen” will get a dose of fuego today! In his remake production, director and choreographer Raul de Marr mixes contemporary dance, ballet and drama with Argentinian tango and revives Bizet's classic opera centred around Carmen. In this story, a young woman fights for autonomy in a male-dominated society and is determined to live her life according to her own ideas and ideals. A little spoiler: During the show, Carmen's red dress with a 20 metre (!) long train will unfold into elaborate waves, transforming it into a work of art. Wow!

The Mailüfterl wine festival in Stammersdorf is a bit like the Oktoberfest in Munich, which is whythe motto is “raise your glasses” again today in the idyllic cellar street! Visitors can look forward to a weekend full of wine, culinary delights and culture. Around 50 restaurateurs will be serving regional specialities and fine wines, including Stammersdorf's famous white wines, of course. The historic cellar vaults of the local winegrowers can also be discovered and in the new VolXFest wine garden directly between the vines you can enjoy a wow view over Vienna with a glass of wine!

Edelstoff
Summer ahoy! The way the sun is shining down from the sky, it can't be long now until then. And that means it's time to spruce up your wardrobe and home accordingly. So it's a good thing then that the Edelstoff market will offer everything we need for two days: On 4,000 square metres, there's everything from smart rain jackets made from old umbrellas by R-Coat to cuddly soft hammam towels by Anna Aniq and glittering recycled gold jewellery by Carolin Marchetti to Asian-style porcelain from the label hochgefeuert that will make your heart skip a beat.

Austin Oestreich and Matt Mink don't just share a penchant for bushy moustaches. The two boys from Salt Lake City also love music – or rather indie music. And they really have what it takes! They released their new album “Mirror” at the beginning of March and are currently presenting the album full of haunting songs about love, loss and identity on their European tour. Today they are stopping off in Vienna and will be heating up the stage at The Loft with their laid-back mix of nostalgic dreaminess and pop elements. You can check it out and listen in here!

That sounds cool! Geri Hollerer is a music nerd, record collector and DJ – so he's pretty well versed sound-wise and is keen to share his knowledge. That's why he regularly leads tours (in pretty stylish outfits, by the way) through different districts of Vienna and feeds his fellow walkers with information about Viennese pop and subculture. Today he's walking through Ottakring, following in the footsteps of legendary Austrian musicians such as Karl Ratzer, Electric Indigo and Kruder & Dorfmeister. Plus, lots of insider stories, funny anecdotes, song examples, photos, flyers, fanzines – top!

But instead, the rosemary is losing its needles and the chives aren't growing back? Then this workshop is for you! Sophie Buchmayer is an urban gardening specialist and explains today how to plant herbs correctly and care for them so that they stay healthy and aromatic – from the choice of location and soil to harmonious herb pairings and harvesting and care techniques. Die Schrankflüsterin
Now this topic really does concern us all: Why do us women always have too little to wear, even though we hoard vast amounts of clothes in the depths of our wardrobes? When in doubt, we always end up wearing the same things. Namely: the clothes we feel comfortable in. But why are there still so many “wardrobe corpses” in our wardrobes? And what to do with the pieces that no longer fit and are far too good to throw away? This evening, “Die Schrankflüsterin” (the wardrobe whisperer) Regina Halbauer will shed some light on this! PS: The Soul Café will take place beforehand ;-)

Clit Walk & Clit Talk
Sad and deeply shocking: In some cultures, women and babies are particularly affected by genital mutilation due to tradition and religion. The Rain Workers want to set an example against this and are therefore organizing the “Clit Walk & Clit Talk” today, on the worldwide day of genital self-determination. Speakers will give informative talks, a circus acrobat in a clitoral full-body costume will interact with passers-by, you can draw vulvas with street chalk with the “Vulvanaut” and rapper Miss Clit will provide the right beats. Sophie Zelmani
Gentle and moving, that's what Swedish singer Sophie Zelmani is all about. She started writing her own songs at the age of 14, her stepfather taught her to play the guitar and six years later she was signed to none other than Sony Music – chapeau! Sophie Zelmani is releasing her new album in spring, which, as always, is characterized by timeless influences and her restrained voice. She draws inspiration from music icons such as Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan. What that sounds like? Best way to find out is to hear Sophie sing live today!

KOI store & ReDesign studio
The 4th district is changing right now – more and more cool stores are opening here! KOI is one of them. This is the brand-new concept store of the two designers Katrin Mayer and Elena Kouznetsova. Apart from their own slow fashion labels “Katrin Mayer” and “Zou Concept”, they also hang a finely curated selection of European, sustainable high-end labels on their clothes rails. But the highlight of the concept is probably the joint re-design label, for which Katrin and Elena work exclusively with discarded designer clothing. Everything looks drop-dead shop-worthy in the elegant urban-industrial setting! PS: The opening party is on May 15!

Furore
A bar that attracts people magnetically, even though only thirty people can fit in. A bar that is super-cozy, even though the centerpiece is a cold metal table. A bar that doesn't scream “here I am”, but still makes a splash. This is Yusuf Shaker's new baby. Pistachio croissants and coffee are served here during the day, while in the evening the place is transformed into an aperitivo bar, where cocktails, olives and stuffed focaccia are served alongside natural wines. Old-school hip-hop hums out of the speakers and the lighting is limited to a negroni-orange neon sign. To use Yusuf's words: “Those who know what's good are here.”
