"Heya Girls!"
So what is it exactly? Definitely not a café where you just stare silently into your milk foam. The newly opened Malma is a studio, living room and coffee house all rolled into one. The trio behind the project – Mia, Sebastian and Aglaë – have created a place where you can get express your creativity over a cup of coffee, keeping your creative inhibitions as flat as a freshly rolled linoleum plate. Because even though Malma calls itself an art café, there's nothing elitist about it; it's all about meditatively delving into colours, inks and collages. In a world that is already far too digital, this offers a wonderfully analogue way of grounding yourself: you choose your medium, sip tea and get started. Or you take a course. The first workshop, in which lampshades are painted, starts this Saturday. Why just hang pictures on the wall when you can even curate the lighting in your own living room? Exactly. Remember: Creativity is a muscle that thrives when you use it.
Wishing you an analogue week,
Your CitySpotterGirl

Michael Marcagi
The fact that Michael Marcagi's career began on social media seems at odds with his retro aesthetic. The singer-songwriter from Cincinnati actually comes from a professional sports background – but found his hobby as a musician more exciting. He was a little apprehensive about his career choice, and that's exactly what inspired his breakthrough song “ Scared to Start”. Shared millions of times on TikTok, it encouraged Marcagi's decision. Luckily, because since then, the self-made talent has been treating us to a musical embrace of folk and Americana – today also live at WUK!

Honoré Daumier: Mirror of Society
Political instability, abuse of power, economic crises and an increasingly confusing society – this is precisely where Honoré Daumier's work in the 19th century comes in. With a sharp eye and incorruptible humour, he held up a mirror to his era and even went to prison for it. The Albertina presented its first major Daumier exhibition back in 1936, and 90 years later the artist is now being rediscovered. Lithographs, drawings, paintings and an animated film with music by Paul and Linda McCartney show that his timelessly topical works are more relevant than ever.
Albertina, Albertinaplatz 1, 1010 Vienna. Until 25 May daily 10:00 to 18:00, Wed+Fri until 21:00. 20 €. Web

Techno at Konzerthaus? At first glance, it sounds a bit absurd, but then it actually sounds like something you just have to go to! After a classical concert in the Great Hall opens the evening, Kein Sonntag ohne Techno will take over the turntables and transforms the Schubert Hall and the Grand Foyer into a pulsating dance floor! Party people can dance to driving electro sounds until 2:00, while fascinating light installations skilfully set the scene for the Konzerthaus. Well, who still says you have to choose between a classical concert and a club after this?

For Ö3's Silent Ice Disco, it's time to put on your skates and hit the ice rink. With wireless headphones, you can choose your favourite beat for groovy gliding from two channels. The only question is: would you prefer house, electronic, hip hop and pop, or alternative, indie and rock? To make sure that pirouettes, flips and spirals don't keep you off the ice, we recommend bringing your own skates with you. Happy dancing!

Hedy Lamarr – Most beautiful woman!
Her first screen appearance was as brief as it was world-changing: Hedy Lamarr played the first nude scene in film history! Raised in a villa in Döbling, she was considered headstrong and difficult. She never submitted to authority and enjoyed life as long as she was at the top of her career. When something went wrong, she blamed others. This attitude clearly suited her well, as theater director Max Reinhardt called her “The most beautiful woman in the world.” A literary portrait of her life, accompanied by jazz music, is presented today at Vindobona!

Schaller & Rausch
Finally, a man who stands by his feelings! With his current single “ Hyper”, Lian Schaller sees sensitivity not as a deficit, but as an attitude. He describes it as “an almost magical ability” – a counterpoint to traditional images of masculinity in an overstimulated present. Together with his band Schaller & Rausch, he releases pop songs that are harmonically complex and narratively clear, while being carried by a lightness that unobtrusively lingers in the ear. It's a little bit reminiscent of Wanda or Bilderbuch and can be heard live today!

Ingrid Brodnig – Enemy Image Women
Threats of violence, digital hate campaigns, malicious photomontages – what sounds like the dark fringes of the internet has become a bitter reality for many female politicians. In her new book, Ingrid Brodnig unflinchingly exposes how systematic intimidation is intended to push women out of public politics and what this means for our democracy. She documents specific attacks and analyses how digital violence works. Brodnig also shows victims ways to protect themselves – legally, technically, and strategically. Today in conversation with Matti Bunzl.

NiaoKo K-Pop Store
Now this is something truly different: Vienna's first ever K-Pop store has opened on Neustiftgasse! Dan and Lara, two die-hard fans of South Korean music, have created a little paradise dedicated entirely to Korean pop bands and their merch. You can get everything there from albums and shirts to stickers, fan lights, magnets and colourful plush toys featuring your favourite band (which by the way is really not easy to find in Europe). Similar to K-pop videos, the store is aesthetically designed with soft mauve lighting. And, of course, there's a karaoke room! ;-)
