"Heya Girls!"
In some places, Christmas is already in full swing! However, between gleeful mulled-wine dates and cheery cookie-baking endeavours, you realise one thing above all: the most stressful time of the year has begun! How convenient that there are good fairies like Tina Nekvinda-Ohneberg at times like these. In the 7th district, she has created a place where you can regenerate before the stressful festive season like in a miracle capsule. At Ukiyo (Japanese for: forget your everyday problems), it works like this: You go in – and only come out again when you feel like you're in wellbeing heaven. Airy fitness rooms invite you to do Pilates and yoga to release your stress. Once your body is in the flow, a relaxing massage is just what you need. There is a choice of everything that’s good for you, from sports massages to body shaping treatments. Once relaxed, you head back up to the ground floor, where the manicure bar with vegan nail polish awaits. You can also find pretty things, clothes, jewellery and home décor items in the in-house shop. And best of all: contrary to expetations, your wallet will only shrink minimally here, as Tina advocates that everyone should be able to afford feel-good moments. How likeable!
Wishing you an inspired week,
Your CitySpotterGirl

Afterwork im Winterwonderland
It's quite something when the whole city is transformed into a gourmet paradise during the Advent season and you can snack your way from one stall to the next with Christmas tunes. A new stop on the track is “Afterwork im Winterwonderland” in the ceramic palm tree-lined Ludo-Hartmann-Hof. With a subtle Caribbean flair, CupCakes Wien serves sweet gingerbread and nougat-orange sins here, while office fugitives can toast to the end of the working day with homemade punch, mulled wine and organic cider. Afterworking could hardly be more delicious!

H&M x Rabanne
Ladies, it's shopping alert level dark red! Today you have to get up early if you don't want to camp out in front of H&M, because the brand-new collection with the Rabanne fashion house will be launched! Inspired by Paco Rabanne's space-age modernism and loud maximalism, designer Julien Dossena has created divine “disc-o-rama” variations: Mirrored sequin dresses, metallic mesh two-pieces and iconic chain shirts lend instant dance floor vibes. And thanks to sparkling home accessories such as metallic sequin curtains, you can style that right in your own four walls!

Buch Wien: Jo Nesbo
The Vienna Book Fair is in full swing and many book presentations are scattered throughout the city! Today, for example, crime novel writer Jo Nesbo will be talking about his new book “Nachthaus”, in which a teenager disappears from a small Norwegian town. His best friend is said to have killed him and even he slowly begins to doubt what happened that night. Plus, historian Mirjam Zadoff gives Holocaust survivors a voice with a reading from her book “Gewalt und Gedächtnis. Erinnerung im 21. Jahrhundert”, and Milo Rau reflects on our future in his essay. Captivating!

Crossing Strings
It goes without saying that you have to work together when you perform as a musical duo. However, Carina Maria Linder and Markus Schlesinger from “Crossing Strings” take the term “duo” to a whole new level: in a mix of self-arranged jazzy-pop evergreens, the classical guitar player and the fingerstyle guitarist seem to merge with the finest plucked sounds. This becomes particularly clear when both play intertwined on one and the same guitar. Hard to imagine? Here's the proof – or you could simply come see for yourself live tonight!

Creative Cluster
The location is really unusual! Art and culture are produced in the Creative Cluster in Margareten – in a former school. Artists, workshops, a DJ school and dance collectives have found a home on 3,600 square metres, including classes, a gym and showers. The Cluster is now opening its doors for 3 days and 140 creative people are giving an insight into their diverse work. For example, you can see how pipes are turned into designer furniture, a robot drawing performance creates interaction between machine, artist and audience and you can learn how to DJ at Turntablista!

Venice in the Serviten quarter
Probably nowhere else in the world is glass art as beautiful, as colourful and as fine as on Murano! Glass has been produced on the Venetian island for 800 years. The name of the Seguso family is inextricably linked to this. In the 20th century, Archimede Seguso led the art of glassmaking to its finest hour, because no one could create marvellous works of art from sand and fire like the maestro dei Maestri. A selection of his glass marvels can now be admired in six stores in the Serviten quarter (such as Fiandre, La Pasteria and Oppel Optik). And the magnificent chandeliers will light up the König shop!

The Jewish Margareten
85 years ago, on the night of 9 to 10 November, the November pogroms took place throughout the Third Reich – which constituted a paradigm shift in the persecution of Jews. Margareten also used to have a small, fine Jewish community. The visible symbol of this community, the synagogue in Siebenbrunnengasse, was destroyed on this night of horror. Today, the victims are remembered and the reading room organises one of its “kult.touren” free of charge, which sheds light on the former Jewish life in Margareten and the circumstances of Pogrom Night.

Marriott Hotel: “Turkey to go“
Time to serve up! US-style. Because if you want to have Thanksgiving like in a film this year instead of harvest festivals, you don't have to do much. With “Turkey to go”, the Marriott Hotel offers the delicious festive dish simply as take-away. The turkey, freshly imported from Carinthia, can be pre-ordered for 4-6 people as a “Classic” or “Brown Sugar Glazed” dish and accompanied by sweet potato puree, glazed chestnuts, bacon and cabbage sprouts or chutney and filled with chestnut-cranberry. They also deliver – so all you have to do is serve it ready to eat. Pretty practical!

Natural.Born.Medea
Let's get crazy! The Bernhard Ensemble's revolutionaries are currently performing their latest hard-core play “Natural.Born.Medea”. It’s a loopy combination of Franz Grillparzer's ancient tragedy “Medea” and Oliver Stone's film “Natural Born Killers”, in which Medea, abused by her father, falls in love with the orphan food delivery man Jason. Frustrated by the world, they decide to take bloody revenge on society together and stage themselves on social networks. Violence, anger and despair dominate the play, but there’s some humour popping up every once and again ;-)

Dalida
Paroles, Paroles ... Darla dirladada ... What catchy tunes! One of the reasons why Dalida's career lasted several decades and why she became a disco queen in the 70s. But she also had a lot to offer in terms of acting, because inside of her it sounded nothing like the cheerful disco songs. That's why she finally said goodbye to life in 1987. This year, she would have been 90 years old and to mark the occasion, she – embodied by Anita Eberwein – is once again at her best. The actress tells the story of Dalaida's life and sings her songs, a lively evening with a rollercoaster of emotions.

Hana
“Cairo kisses Vienna” is the motto of the new, highly elegant patisserie Hana. Here you can buy cheesecake as well as muffins – but above all, baklava are baked in the open-plan kitchen. Up to 30 varieties are on offer every day: in a wide variety of shapes and with all kinds of fillings such as pistachios, walnuts and cashews. If the Turkish baklava are too sweet for you, try the Arabic baklava with a special rose water mixture. And yes, vegan baklava are also available in the marble display case. By the way, Ha-na is Arabic and means “ happiness”, in Kurdish it means “hope”. Could do with some at the moment.

Bao Bar
Sometimes you simply have to be quick about eating and always having burgers gets kind of boring. Bao buns present themselves as a good alternative. The white, steamed yeast balls are soft and fluffy and are served as street food in Asia. Filled with all sorts of interesting ingredients, they resemble burgers (at least visually) and yet taste different. Probably the best bao buns in Vienna are served in the small Bao Bar, which – merci! – has now opened its 3rd branch just around the corner from our editorial office. The filling with Sulmtaler chicken from Styria tastes particularly great – and it's also available as a bowl!
