"Heya Girls!"
In Vienna, International Women's Day is starting a little earlier this year – because, as we all know, patience is not a typically feminine virtue. The women's center ega isn't wasting any time and is kicking off Women's Day early on Saturday with a party. Between DJ beats, live music, food, and a photo booth, there will be laughter, dancing, and discussion. Artist Jule Companie will be exhibiting new works that bathe courage and vulnerability in bright colours, reminding us that self-determination can begin precisely when you continue painting undeterred But the party is only the prelude. From 2 to 8 March, Vienna Women's Week will take over the city with 200 free events. These will range from city tours on “Invisible Women” and free photo shoots to a theme day on “Handling Money Safely!”. The highlight will be on 7 March: At the Open City Hall, Vienna will demonstrate that equality is not a nice extra, but a fundamental right. A must-attend event for anyone who wants to live solidarity, not just post about it.

Wishing you a week full of women's power,
Your CitySpotterGirl

 Reinhard Sock
Light and Shadow in the Flow of Time
There was a time when photography was more than just a snapshot for your Insta feed... Reinhard Sock knows this only too well. The photographer specialises in pinhole photography, a complex method involving projecting light through a tiny hole onto photographic paper. This is particularly well suited for long exposures, where light is recorded over periods of several hours to several months. Sock's photographs appear to have been created by the sun itself – so come and see for yourself at today's exhibition opening!

City Walk – Underground
We can probably all agree that there are more exciting things to do than ride the U-Bahn... except today! Because an after-work tour takes you to works of art in the public transport network. From expansive wall art to digital installations, you can discover the artistic underground locations along the U1 line with a public transport ticket. Incidentally, the idea for the decorative design of the Wiener Linien dates back to Otto Wagner's city railway, which opened in 1898, and makes our U-Bahn stations very special. The art tour starts in Favoriten and ends at Karlsplatz!

For years, it was an insider tip for creative fashionistas: Claudia Tramontana's fabric outlet. Now, after 40 years, the fashion fairy is bidding farewell and making the fur fly one last time! Fine designer fabrics (from Valentino or Etro, for example), flowing silk dreams and cool linen blends, as well as matching trims and buttons, are still available at bargain prices. This is definitely something to take advantage of, because who knows where you'll be able to find such beautiful (and affordable) fabrics for your next creative project. We will miss it!

The Line
Dance art: 50 dancers have created an unusual, inclusive performance project. With the exhibition "The Line" from the Heidi Horten Collection as instigator, the dancers explore movement, expression and encounter. The things that often separate us in everyday life are artistically reinterpreted here, with the line appearing as a connecting element. Inspired by the works in the exhibition, dancers with and without disabilities have developed their own language of movement, becoming living pictures themselves. Modern herb witches will certainly enjoy this guided tour of the Hirschstetten Flower Gardens, where experts from Vienna's municipal gardens will teach you about medicinal herbs that have traditionally been used for women's health. These plants are meant to support female health and hormone balance at different stages of life, but can also help with certain ailments. Examples include lady's mantle, yarrow, monk's pepper and red clover. So keep your eyes open and pay attention – you might learn something useful ;-)

Dance Images
Let's dance! For dancing can be so liberating. Especially after 1900, a lively scene emerged in Vienna that redefined dance as an art form. The Albertina now  shows an exhibition on dance photography, whose images illustrate how expression, rhythm and movement were transformed into fascinating pictures. The exhibition features a wide range of works, from ballet portraits from the 1860s, to snapshots of free dance from around 1900, to avant-garde photographs from the 1920s and 1930s. Pretty to look at – and makes you want to dance along!

Lithuanian design from a different perspective: Instead of viewing individual works and artists as individuals, the current exhibition at the designforum focuses on exchange, mentoring, and the sharing of experience. Objects, fashion, furniture, and lighting from designers of diverse generations, disciplines, backgrounds, and sensory experiences are presented as an ongoing process rather than a finished product. Traditional Lithuanian materials are reinterpreted, showcasing design as an evolving practice. Quite an Intriguing exhibition!

Vienna Latina. Life between worlds
Around 20,000 people from Latin America and the Caribbean currently call Vienna home, enriching the city's culture in countless ways. As part of the EU project “Viena Latina”, people from approximately 20 countries in this region have shared their stories in deeply personal ways: through interviews, photographs, textile art, and joint city tours. The new Wien Museum exhibition presents these accounts and explores themes of maintaining one's roots while starting afresh in a new environment. The opening is today, free admission!
