Dominik Scharfer
Somewhere between humour and tragedy, good and evil, reality and imagination, Dominik Scharfer's catchy works of art wander beneath thick, luminous layers of acrylic and cold paint. The painting student has found his passion in the figurative interpretation of dreams, prohibitions, and social conventions which he always mixes with a trenchant dose of humour and light-heartedness. The cheeky figures and naive scenes magically attract the eye. If you don't believe it, check it out today at the vernissage of “On the Pillars of Immaturity”!

Cactuses, Kimonos and Cold Duck
The title alone makes it sound like it's going to be great – so switch off your computer, put on your sunglasses and head to VinziRast's cool after-work pop-up! As part of VinziRast-Chance, people in the asylum process have created unusual kimonos from colourful fabrics and original cactus lamps at the location in the 9th district. They can be purchased today while you celebrate the end of the work day with “Cold Duck”-summer punch and tasty snacks from the VinziRast-mittendrin restaurant. And since the weather is actually nice at the moment, you can also toast in the idyllic courtyard!

Ramasuri
Ramasuri – three best friends who let their voices, strings, keys and skins vibrate together to highlight socio-critical issues that are close to their hearts. They elegantly mix singer-songwriter, pop, soul, and sing both in Austrian dialect and English in order to create a colourful Ramasuri and present it in a close-up acoustic set. For tonight's living room concert, the power trio will get some musical support from the lyric-crazy and humorously quirky jazz pianist Bernhard Krisper aka békrisp. It's sure to be a great evening.

Going once, going twice, helped! Dining with Gottfried Helnwein, a therapy session with Erika Freeman or snatching cartoons by Tex Rubinowitz – all this is possible today at the Hemayat charity auction. Celebrities and artists are putting their time and works under the hammer for a good cause, with the proceeds funding therapy sessions for survivors of war and torture. The evening is hosted by Hilde Dalik with Christoph Grissemann, by the way, and Christoph Fitz performs a cabaret interlude. There's no better way to combine seriousness and fun!

Beethoven's Pastorale
Did you know? Beethoven was a keen walker. The composer drew inspiration for many of his works, including his 6th Symphony, from his walks in nature. Today, the five movements of his Pastorale are performed by the Camerata Mozart Wien at five nature stages and stations, which correspond to the themes and names of the respective places. Between the movements, listeners will pass through landscapes that seem to evoke Beethoven's time, when nymphs and shepherds idealised the spectacle of nature. Fresh air with added value!
Meeting point: Bus stop Freyenthurmgasse, 1140 Vienna. 17:45. Free admission. Please sign up. Web

Art in the Pool
If we were to give an award for the most unusual event location – this one would definitely be veeery far ahead! For jewellery maker Haldis Scheicher has chosen an empty pool for her exhibition! It is part of the flat of Gerda Maierhofer and architect Hannes Bürger, who actually housed his office in the original 1960s swimming pool and cleared it out for the “Art in the Pool” art series. In addition to Haldi's unusual necklaces, pendants and objects made from reworked everyday objects, there is also a nice concert in the pool. Really original!

Inside Views: Photographs from China
Repressive autocracy, global player, economic superpower – the European view of China is characterised by many clichés. But how do Chinese artists see themselves? And what do their individual inner views tell us about society as a whole? The new exhibition at WestLicht deals with these questions and shows works by eleven Chinese artists. As an additional highlight, photographs by Ren Hang are also on display. His intertwined naked bodies in sometimes acrobatic poses have been highly polarising since the 2010s. Today is the vernissage!

Weill...Frauen nun mal so sind?
Women fighting over shamefully charming men, enjoying their triumph over life, dreaming of great love and taking revenge on reality. Because that's what women are like. But... what are they really like? And why does so much of women's theatre revolve around a man? Using operetta, Broadway musical, chanson and texts by famous writers, artists Jil Clesse and Ulrike Hallas contrast the image of women in Kurt Weill's time with that of today. A tribute to the versatility of women and to one of the most exciting composers of the 20th century!

Ute Lemper: Rendezvous with Marlene
She is considered the reincarnation of Marlene Dietrich. And that was not always pleasant for Broadway star Ute Lemper, for example, after she won the Molière Prize and was compared to the German icon in all the media. So she wrote Marlene an apology postcard, which surprisingly led to a 3-hour personal phone call with the diva herself. Lemper's show today revolves around this very dialogue as a tribute to Marlene, telling the story of one of the most fascinating icons of the 1920s, complete with captivating secrets and her fabulous songs. Must see!

Sale at We Bandits
Maybe some of you still remember it: The Viennese fair fashion brand We Bandits originally started out as a mini shop with the sale of pieces from small independent labels from South Korea and Scandinavia. They now only sell their own sustainably produced clothing online, from dresses to (very pretty!) pyjama trouser suits, but the store still sells those hand-picked brands that you rarely, if ever, find in Vienna. It doesn't really matter, actually, because both these and the store's own collection are currently on sale: minus 30 percent. Cool!

rosa mosa
rosa mosa's previous locations were almost as exciting as the fashion itself. Once, Simone Springer and Yuji Mizobuchi sold their colourful lambskin wooden clogs, fancy metallic sandals and corn leaf shoes in an ice cream parlour, for example. Now they have finally found their dream address, where shop and workshop can be combined well. Under the high ceilings, between the sage-coloured industrial-chic loft doors, used to be the home of the famous hat manufacturer Collins. Here, the shoe dreams, accessories, crochet dresses and cotton canvas blouses now have the perfect stage to shine – just like the friendly owners :-)

Inigo
Inigo in Bäckerstraße has actually been around for a really long time. But now the Caritas restaurant, which helps long-term unemployed men and women re-enter the labour market, has been renovated – and it has turned out really chic. Terrazzo floors, wooden furniture reminiscent of the 1960s and lots of sage green make the space bright and welcoming, and when the weather is nice (can we get some of that again, please?) you can also sit outside. The food is hearty home cooking, the roast beef with mash tasted like grandma's. Vegan and vegetarian dishes are also on the menu. And the service: sensationally friendly!
