"Heya Girls!"
Sometimes all you need is a place where everything is a little quieter – and where you can truly enjoy what you do. At Ottilie, my new creative centre in the Waldviertel region, you can do just that: write, create, pause, start afresh. Ottilie is housed in a building that is over 500 years old—with creaky floorboards, quiet corners, and rooms that have heard many stories. In the coming weeks, inspiring encounters await you there: We will delve into Claude Monet's secret of the water lilies, rediscover memories in the “Writing Family History(ies)” course, and learn how a manuscript becomes a real book. Those who have already published will learn how to organise readings and lovingly promote their books. And those who prefer to work with their hands can create little treasures in the jewellery workshop, or simply enjoy life at the Ayurveda brunch with Sandra Hartmann. Welcome to Ottilie – where creativity takes root!
Wishing you a loving week,
Your CitySpotterGirl

The repair festival aims to draw attention to this dark side of the glamorous fashion world with a truly beautiful exhibition. On display are over 80 outfits by international designers such as Vivienne Westwood, Marine Serre, and Susanne Bisovsky, who have been working with upcycled materials for years, as well as creatively mended everyday clothing by activists – all very elaborate and absolutely inspiring for your own wardrobe!

Dia de los Muertos
Nice concept: According to Mexican belief, the dead return from the afterlife on “Dia de los Muertos” to celebrate a joyful reunion with us living – today also in Vienna! Part of the celebrations is the vernissage of the exhibition “Zum Teufel mit dem Teufel” (To Hell with the Devil) by Sonia Siblik and an artistically designed altar by Gina Guajardo, where offerings can be placed. The focus is on the figure of the devil in its cultural interpretations. Finally, it's off to the “Comida Comunitaria,” where everyone can bring their deceased loved ones' favorite foods!

Diana Krall
Ah... she sounds like romantic Sunday mornings with breakfast in bed and gentle rays of sunshine caressing the curtains. With songs like “The Look of Love,” “The Devil May Care,” and her latest work, “This Dream Of You,” Diana Krall is the only jazz singer to reach the top of the Billboard Jazz Charts with eight albums. No wonder, since she started playing the piano at the age of four and has a voice that envelops you like soft velvet. Today she will be singing live at the Vienna Konzerthaus, and since it's so beautiful, you can get in the mood here ;-)

Temari for Beginners
Temari originally started out as an embroidered toy ball for children, made from scraps of old kimonos wrapped in silk thread. These colourful balls have been made in Japan for almost 1,400 years and are considered to be gifts of joy and happiness. We're already in love with them visually, so that was just a quick note on their beautiful background! If you'd like to make your own temari, today's workshop is perfect for you! You will learn how to wrap a ball in yarn and divide it into geometric sections, which are then embroidered with a chrysanthemum pattern.

Crematorium & Natural Burial Grounds
This may be a somewhat unusual appointment, but it is no less important. After all, making provisions for your final resting place always saves a lot of stress and unnecessary emotional strain. That is why the cemeteries of the City of Vienna now offer exclusive tours of the crematorium with fascinating insights into the infrastructure and process of cremation. The natural burial grounds can also be visited. Vienna's cemeteries already have 66,000 square meters available for natural burials, offering a nature-oriented alternative to traditional burial.

Mmm… Sundays are for treating yourself, right? Our suggestion: a trip to the centrally located Palais Corso! With fresh mezze like muhammara or fattoush, warm delicacies, and sweet temptations like baklava or semolina pastry, you will really get into the Arabian Nights spirit. And because it's a buffet, you can have seconds of your favourites again and again ;-) A wonderful journey into the flavour diversity of the Middle East!

Malarina: Trophäenraub
In her award-winning role as the right-wing Austrian-Serbian, Malarina is undoubtedly considered one of the funniest (and meanest!) observers of domestic politics. But now she has to come up with a plan bcause her fame has led to the tax office and social security constantly demanding absurd amounts of money from her. But Malarina is a pseudo-feminist; she prefers to use the patriarchy to her advantage rather than destroy it. So the trophy wife sets out to search for potential partners and dates her way through human history. Funny and sharp!

Why do we sleep?
For some, it's comatose-like, for others, light and sometimes even restless: sleep. But why do we sleep at all, actually? What happens in our bodies during this time, and what kinds of factors influence our night's rest? Targeted sleep education can improve this phase of recovery. Today's webinar will teach you how you can relearn how to relax physically and cognitively, achieve restful nights, and establish a relaxed daily routine. Also: What are sleep biology and sleep hygiene, and what influence do smartphones and tablets have on our sleep?

Ruth Klüger – Ceija Stojka
Ruth Klüger began writing poetry in Auschwitz, reciting poems to herself to get through roll call. She later became an internationally renowned German literature professor in the USA. More than 40 years after her liberation from the concentration camp, Ceija Stojka became the first Romani woman to publish a book, “We Live in Seclusion”, in 1988, and also began to paint. The works of these two courageous and emancipated women can currently be admired in the 7th district – where Ruth Klüger lived before her deportation and where Ceija Stojka lived after the war.

Broken By The Scream
Don't they look cute? Well, anyone who now checks out their music here will be more than surprised at what sounds come out of these ladies' delicate little bodies. Because no, the girl group Broken By The Scream doesn’t really do melodic Japanese ballads at all. Instead, heavy metal screams blare through the microphones, then colliding suddenly with sweet melodies before a loud grunt completely knocks you off your stride. Strangely enough, though, it all fits together quite well – so if you're in the mood to scream unrestrainedly today: this is the place to be ;-)

The beer garden atmosphere is simply a must for autumn! With hearty treats, tasty beer, and with nice company – and that’s hardly as authentic anywhere as at Schweizerhaus. They celebrate the season finale until October 31st, so you can enjoy the last not-too-frosty days with a freshly tapped Budweiser Budvar and a crispy organic pork knuckle, perhaps even under the old chestnut trees. On the final weekend, the enjoyment will also be accompanied by music – from Bohemian sounds to lively brass bands. Here's to that!

Ghost – Message from Sam
Soooo romantic... It's arguably one of the greatest love stories of all time: Millions of moviegoers weep with Molly when her true love, Sam, is murdered in a robbery. His soul remains on Earth as a ghost, trying to protect Molly from her own death. The Oscar-winning film will now come to the stage as a musical – complete with the legendary pottery scene! The new soundtrack was created by none other than music legend Dave Stewart and star producer Glen Ballard. A love story that transcends death and strikes at the very heart!

transformation
Transformation is change and a dynamic process. And photography enables us to be part of transformation by revealing changes and inviting reflection. In their photographic work, artist Johannes Gramm and photographer Stefan Olah explore precisely these themes: While Gramm examines objects from his family archive and tells their stories, Olah photographically documented the architectural redesign of the Heidi Horten Collection. The exhibition “Transformation” sees the two artists' works enter into a fascinating dialogue.

Buchcafe Melange
The Buchcafe isn't entirely new, but its address is! Romana Ledl and her literary treasures have moved a few minutes' walk to Mariahilferstraße – with the same vintage charm, but larger and brighter than before. Bibliophile coffee lovers are still spoiled here: first, with coffee and cake, devoured on the charmingly old-fashioned furniture next to bookshelves. And then, of course, with literature. In addition to an original selection in German, there are also books in Croatian, Turkish, and English. Plus: There are regular readings and workshops!

Cafe Glas
Tucked away in the Raimundhof, between Mariahilfer Straße and Windmühlgasse, lies Cafe Glas – a true haven of peace in the alleyway: bright, minimalist, and charmingly urban. Daylight streams through the large glass ceiling, making the space feel almost like a conservatory. A bicycle hangs on the wall, the tables are made from old sewing machines. The only drink served here is coffee – strong, clear, to the point. Specialty: cold brew. Plus, a few slices of cake or some Swedish kanelbullar. No frills or menu, just good taste in its purest form.
