"Heya Girls!"
Paris has one, Milan has one – and of course Vienna has a Fashion Week too. It might be a bit smaller, but that's okay. Even if there are no Hollywood stars or supermodels flying in, you can still feel like a fashion queen for six days – enjoying fashion shows by local and international designers, shopping, talks, and parties. For the grand opening, the fashion of all 33 participating designers will be shown on the catwalk. Over the next few days, the latest creations from designers like Sabine Karner, Pitour, and Elke Freytag will be presented in hourly shows. There will also be a fashion talk: At “Caviar or Potatoes? Temu or Prada?” editors-in-chief, fashion journalists, and industry experts will discuss changing values, consumer behaviour, and the question of whether fashion is still more than just a lifestyle product today. And of course, there will also be pop-up stores too – it would be mean if you could do nothing but look, after all!
Wishing you a fabulous week,
Your CitySpotterGirl
MuseumsQuartier, Hall E + G, Museumsplatz 1, 1070 Vienna. 15 to 20 September. Day ticket from 28€. Detailed show schedule online

Aufgehorcht
Almost exactly 30 years ago, the idea of a group led by musician Willi Resetarits culminated in the creation of the Integrationshaus, the central institution for professional refugee care. He always wanted to give young musical talents a voice. Today's concert aims to keep this wonderful idea alive, and so three artists will be there to rock the stage in support of the Integrationshaus: Violetta Parisini delivers profound melodies, Stubenfliege combines Viennese music with a new dialect sound, and Pippa delights with her electronic sophistication. Go there and listen!

Hula-Hooping for your pelvic floor
Well, that sounds like fun! Hula Hoop Queen Michaela Kempter is showing us today at the period shop Rotmarie how to not only revive childhood memories with a hoop, but also rock your pelvic floor. Hip circling not only brings joy and lightness, but also balances the right and left sides of the body, strengthens the abdominal and back muscles as well as the pelvic floor, and massages the connective tissue. By the way, anyone who hula-hoops gets 10% off all absorbent panties, washable panty liners, and sanitary pads at Rotmarie – a win-win for both body and wallet ;-)
Meeting point: meadow in front of the Rotmarie Shop, Bloch-Bauer-Promenade 22, 1100 Vienna. 12 September, 16:30. 5€. Web

Cagliostro – Johann Strauss + Circus
Clear the stage for Johann Strauss! In the magical atmosphere of the Circus-Theater Roncalli, the rousing melodies of Johann Strauss meet impressive acrobatic acts. The inspiration comes from the operetta “Cagliostro”, which star author Thomas Brezina has transformed into a circus operetta: a turbulent story celebrating Johann Strauss's 200th birthday, from the world of artists, centered around secret longings, shattered dreams, lies and greed, gullibility, and the search for true happiness. A musical spectacle that blends pop, theatre, and the circus world!

Vienna Woman Bike Ride
Today's good for getting killer calves! What used to be known as the “Fancy Women Bike Ride”, which brought ladies around the world together to pedal away on their bikes, is no longer an international event, but instead takes place with concentrated power in our favourite city. The main focus is on staying safe in traffic – and the right outfit is a must, of course: From sweatpants to cocktail dresses, anything you feel comfortable in is allowed. The ride will take you to Zirkuswiese in the Prater, and everyone from beginners to pedaling-pros is welcome!

The Schubert Theater, too, will be raising its curtain again for the new season, and it’s kicking things off with a very special hommage to its namesake, Franz Schubert! In their third collaboration with the Epos:Quartett and the virtuoso conductor, violinist, and violist Berit Cardas from Norway, the theater sets out to trace the footsteps of Franz Schubert and uncover the secrets of his late work. In a fusion of puppet theatre for adults and chamber concert, the composer's artistic creative phases will be traced in a unique way. Amazing production!

Premiere: 20 Years of Kernölamazonen
20 years! That's how long Kernölamazonen have been around. But since they feel as if they've only just reached that age themselves, Caroline Athanasiadis and Gudrun Nikodem-Eichenhardt decide to repeat their musical journey of love from back then. They quickly realize that a lot has changed. Only their piano slave is still the same. But are you even still allowed to call him that? Will the two find suitable male treats and what remains of the old glamour of the “sex bomb”? They find out exactly that in their anniversary show. Cheeky and caustic, but always accurate and charming ;-)

Retrotopia
In “Retrotopia,” a return to the past is being propagated, and anyone who, as a FLINTA* person, does not comply with the new laws is sanctioned with “compulsory social service.” When the number of restrictions and arrests continues to increase, a series of bizarre recipes are exchanged among five lawbreakers in an escalating sequence of events: One tries her hand as a tradwife influencer, another is active in the feminist underground. The new play at the Kosmos Theater is a satirical and vicious search for scope of action amid pressure to conform and control.

The new exhibition at the Künstlerhaus currently addresses this question. He was the greatest Austrian singer-songwriter of our time: Ludwig Hirsch. With his debut album “Dunkelgraue Lieder” from 1978, peppered with classics such as “Die Omama”, “Spuck den Schnuller aus”, “Der Herr Haslinger”, “I lieg am Ruckn” and the great legacy of “Komm großer schwarzer Vogel”, he shaped the history of Austropop. Today, his long-time companion, band leader and guitarist Johnny Bertl, together with his band, commemorates the unique Hirsch sound and presents “Dark Grey Songs” on stage at the Theater im Park! Shikkosa
When you enter the brand-new flagship boutique of Italian brand Shikkosa on Naglergasse, you feel like you're at one of Dita Von Teese’s performances: Elaborately crafted lace corsets are displayed like works of art in small exhibition niches, lingerie sets dangle like precious gems from golden chain curtains, and the changing rooms, with their fluttering powder-pink curtains, are reminiscent of an elegant boudoir. What counts here? Pure elegance! But at the same time, the saucy touch is by no means lost. In short: a must-visit for lovers of exquisite undercouture!
