"Heya Girls!"
This question is being asked more and more often: Do you still consume or do you already repair? In light of the devastating effects of global consumerism on the climate, the fantastic re:pair Festival, starting on Monday, shows us how we can act more sustainably. The festival's aim is to revive the culture of repair through 140 events. It's not just about darning socks; it's also about repair in art, technology and nature. For 19 days, exhibitions, workshops and lectures will demonstrate the vast scope of the subject, covering everything from the Japanese mending technique sashiko to repairing electrical appliances and holding a bra clinic. The exhibition "Masterpieces of Repair" showcases designer outfits that have been rescued and upcycled, including pieces by Vivienne Westwood and Viktor & Rolf. In the clinics, visitors' broken items will be repaired free of charge wherever possible. This is a festival in tune with the times. Let's mend!

Wishing you a wonderful week,
Your CitySpotterGirl

Lore x Erda Alpine
Attention: We have once again discovered a rare gem in the fashion universe – Inga Nemirovskaia. The designer founded her label “Lore” this year – and her debut collection, “Alpine Wool,” transforms unused Alpine wool into contemporary knitwear, outdoor clothing, and footwear. The goal: to establish a transparent and regional supply chain model. You can admire and purchase these fluffy pieces today and tomorrow in an exclusive pop-up store! Also noteworthy: Inga's B2B platform “Erda Alpine,” which curates European wool yarns and connects designers with local supply chains.

Opening of the Mila Supermarket
Community markets are well established in New York, and the opening of the Mila participatory supermarket in 2022 brought the concept to Vienna. This is absolutely fantastic, given the current horrendous food prices! Mila exclusively sells organic goods from small businesses at affordable prices, such as homemade spreads from Balkan farmers (BioBalkan) or mafia-free tomato sauce from Associazione NoCap. To celebrate the opening of its first large branch today, you can do a trial-shopping at Mila, take part in a pumpkin tasting and learn all about the concept on a number of guided tours!

They are the architects of our ecosystems, an inspiration for science, business, and design: mushrooms! And that's why Vienna currently dedicates an entire festival to them. With over 60 events, you can learn how to clone mushrooms or visit a macro photography exhibition and a funga market. The world's most renowned mycologist is also there. And sincethese little hat-wearers are not only interesting but also very tasty, you can enjoy them today at Cafe Schillwasser during a fine mushroom dinner. PS: There's also a guided tour of the Hut & Stiel mushroom farm!

Max Raabe: Hummel streicheln
Max Raabe loves animals. In his song “Hummel” (bumblebee), he dreams of entering their world, putting cookies in kangaroos' pouches, or cutting down trees with beavers in certain places. In the concert programme “Hummel streicheln,” he has animalistic fun with the Palast Orchester, mixing popular “Raabe pop” hits with timeless original songs from the 1920s and 1930s such as “Heute Nacht oder nie” and “Wenn die Elisabeth”. By the way, it's worth buzzing... no... zooming in on Raabe and the Palast Orchester's social media. There are funny video clips for the song “Hummel” ;-)

Therapeutic Yoga for Endometriosis
According to the Medical University of Vienna, one in ten women of childbearing age in Austria is affected by endometriosis. However, many women are unaware of the disease. Typical symptoms include menstrual pain, pain during sex, and an “endobelly.” Yoga teacher Elke Kieweg, who suffers from endometriosis herself, shows how yoga can help relieve pain and improve quality of life using bandha activation, yin yoga to open the hips, cycle-accompanying pranayama for the pelvic floor, as well as asanas, breathing, and fascia mobilisation.

Tanz Company Gervasi: 7-x-7 in C molle
They seem like time travellers carefully investigating whether the place they have landed in is really suitable for them. This is roughly how the members of Tanz Company Gervasi move in today's performance, which they have again dedicated to the work of US choreographer Merce Cunningham: Seven dancers share a space that appears limited but has no predefined division. Their interaction is a continuous negotiation. Each dancer develops strategies to satisfy their own needs and desires in a constantly evolving balance. Impressive!

Mosaic tiles from the 10th century
Wow, this could be beautiful! Zellige tiles are an ancient mosaic art tradition that originated in the 10th century during the golden age of Islam and was practiced throughout the whole of Andalusia. The art of zellige is still being practiced and preserved by a small group of artisans, mainly in the Moroccan city of Fez – and today also in Vienna! Die Feldermaus
Premiered in 1874 at the Linke Wienzeile, “Die Fledermaus” flutters back to its place of origin. But instead of pure Strauss music, Beethoven's “Fidelio”, the musical “Elisabeth”, and Verdi's “La Traviata” are mixed into a colourful potpourri, and all other boundaries are joyfully pushed too. Six Johann Strauss characters dance across the dance floor as Nazis, while prison guard Frosch, dressed as Emperor Franz Josef, ponders the downfall of the Habsburg Empire – and that's just a small excerpt from this incredibly witty stage spectacle ;-)

“Black always works,” as the saying goes. But why it is often much more effective to wear color, and what the concept of color types is all about, is something you can learn at today's workshop at the boutique. There, designer Victoria Forstner from the Valoria label will explain all about so-called “warm” and “cool” colours, how to use colour effects correctly and how to style your wardrobe according to your colour type. This can be a great mood lifter in autumn ;-) P.S. Drinks, snacks and plenty of conversation will also be provided. With this in mind: Colour your life!

Anna Lapwood
Dubbed the “Taylor Swift of the organ”, her performance at Cologne Cathedral attracted a mile-long queue of fans, a police operation and a spontaneous extra concert. Well, just goes to show how quickly the dusty church instrument can become cool! But it must also be said: the young British organist Anna Lapwood is simply sensational! As well as playing organ solos, she performs film music hits and accompanies well-known musicians such as Bonobo, the musician and DJ. Irodion
Luckily, the elegant interior of the new Greek restaurant Iridion doesn't try to cater to any Greek clichés. It's simply chic. And the number of highly polished copper pots hanging from the ceiling as decoration is impressive. The menu features the expected fare (souvlaki, pita, appetizer platters), but also unusual dishes like sweet galaktoburiko with cinnamon syrup. The lamb shank with kritharaki tastes great, and the service is really friendly. Sometimes on Saturday evenings, they celebrate a Greek fiesta and – oops, now here comes a cliché after all – break dishes. It's still fun, though.
