"Heya Girls!"
Between bikini bodies and political cynicism: Grazia Patricia's world is sometimes biting, sometimes tender, but always deeply human. Because she knows: “All you need for a bikini body is a bikini and a body.” So Grazia doesn't worry – like the rest of Austria. On Saturday, Graz-born drag queen Grazia Patricia will perform her cabaret show “Miss Success” at the Vindobona – a humorous reflection on self-acceptance and the importance of resilience in our challenging world. Things are going well, after all, with tolerated corruption, staggering equality for women and the eternal forgetting of laptops. Speaking of forgetting: How is KHG doing? Behind Grazia, also known as the Cabaret Princess, is actor Patrick Weber – and he is one of Vienna's most famous drag queens. So if you fancy elegance, cynicism and good entertainment – go for it!
Wishing you a glamorous week,
Your CitySpotterGirl
Das Vindobona, Wallensteinplatz 6, 1200 Vienna. 4 May 19:30. From 20 €. Web

Contemporary Circus Visions #B
What a circus! It's not just this common expression that talks the circus down. But how can we succeed in liberating the concept of circus from its unsavoury legacy? The acrobats and performers Verena Schneider and Charlotte Le May want to bring contemporary, socially relevant and artistically sophisticated artistry to the circus and are therefore organising a colourful programme consisting of exhibitions, performances, concerts and workshops. Their mission: to bring contemporary circus to life in a new (and also feminist) way. Nice!

She has already dressed stars like Lady Gaga, Kylie Jenner and Ellie Goulding, and German Vogue describes her as Austria's most promising newcomer. Why? You will find out the answer for yourself after a visit to the Geymüllerschlössel. Because there, in a Biedermeier ambience, the fantastic, floral, feminine and playful creations of the Austrian fashion designer are currently exhibited. The fashion talent herself is present at today's opening and invites you to take a guided tour of the exhibition. And there's also an artifical flower workshop on top of it.

Safer Six
When six gentlemen are close to the 300 mark collectively and have been making music together for half the time without killing each other, there's a suitable word for it: Oida! This is also the name of Safer Six's new programme. The a cappella boy band turns 25 this year and to celebrate, they're throwing a party that's really something else. The boys will sing in several voices and perform all the instruments vocally – even the drums! They will play songs by Falco, Hubert von Goisern and Bilderbuch as well as their own tasty creations tonight.

Reclaim Your Anger
Who hasn't had those moments when you are so angry you feel like a mushroom cloud that might boil over at any moment? Well, but it's just not the appropriate thing to do as a lady to vent your anger in public. We women have been conditioned to suppress anger and label it as unfeminine for a long time. As a result, we often turn our anger inwards, which can lead to toxic shame and passive-aggressive behaviour. In today's workshop, coach Felicia Nagel explains how you can instead learn to embrace that seething feeling and draw strength from it!

Jenny Jürgens: Miradas
Moments of mindfulness, pausing for a moment, but also making the right and precise decisions – that's what the photographs of actress Jenny Jürgens are all about. The German TV star has built up a second career as a photographer and from today she will be exhibiting her work from recent years for the first time in Vienna over a period of two weeks: lush colours can be found next to graphically captivating geometric arrangements, sensual flowers next to sparse branches, and her adopted home of Mallorca is reflected in her work time and again – very atmospheric!

Sisi & Co
Which Habsburg woman was the first to obtain a driving licence, was one of the first women in the world to buy a car and took the first colour photographs of the imperial family? What kind of gambling did the highly moral Empress Maria Theresa indulge in? And which former heir to the throne became a Hollywood star and a Nazi informer? For the first time, Habsburg expert Katrin Unterreiner has brought together the hidden and largely unknown passions of the Habsburgs in one book – and shows us a whole new side of the emperor & family. The book is presented today – free!

Monographic show: Iris Blauensteiner
A humorous coming-of-age story about a friendship between girls in “Schwitzen”, a mother who sends a filmed letter to her unborn child during the Corona pandemic in “Die Welt ist an ihren Rändern blau”, or on the trail of a young woman's secret between real and imagined life stories in “Doublage” – Stadtkino is showing 5 short films by filmmaker Iris Blauensteiner today. Themes such as loneliness, friendship, reality and surrealism are typical of her work. PS: After the screening there will be a discussion with Blauensteiner herself!

Pirate Cultures
The art collective Sandkasten Syndikat and friends bring the Pirate Beach to Vienna! Unusual urban routes, resistance against patriarchal body politics, open-source systems – the new exhibition tells about this and much more. It presents the artistic research “Pirate Cultures” in the very special ambience of the Semmelweisklinik – because the artists understand piracy as an emancipatory politics of re-appropriation, care and DIY culture. At the centre are practices of reclaiming the city – how very much in tune with the times. Today is the vernissage!

Water or The Murmur of Time
Shallow – deep, still – turbulent, soothing – threatening: water has many faces and is inextricably linked to our lives. Dora Mai and Greta Znojemsky have artistically explored this exciting element and have put together a duo exhibition that presents water as an interdisciplinary exhibition project. On display are swimming women as paintings, overturned buckets from which clothes pegs flow in different shades of blue, symbolic of water, as well as photographs and video works that encourage dialogue. Poetic!

Fundus
Magdalena Lettner's treasure trove of vintage furniture and antique beauties shows how a father-daughter hobby can turn into a super-cool business. Even as a child, she used to go to flea markets with her father bright and early, equipped with a headlamp, in search of rarities. Now she has just opened her “Fundus” in Otto-Bauer-Gasse, which is filled with mid- century furniture and accessories. The bright shop is furnished in the style of a living room, kitchen and hallway. So you can also get some interior design inspiration during shopping!
